In this article, we'll take a look at 3 different areas in GRAND GREEN OSAKA, their characteristics, and the best places to visit in each. Come check out Osaka's hot new locale, and plan a day exploring it in your own way.
Osaka's New Landmark: GRAND GREEN OSAKA
GRAND GREEN OSAKA is located north of JR Osaka Station, the largest transportation hub in Japan, and stands in an area that was once home to the old Umeda Freight Station. Built as part of the Umekita Phase 2 District development project, GRAND GREEN OSAKA is a large-scale complex that combines offices, hotels, core functional facilities, shopping, an urban park, and housing.
GRAND GREEN OSAKA's design philosophy is rooted in the creation of what it calls "Osaka MIDORI LIFE" ("midori" means "green" or "greenery"). In this space that brings together greenery and innovation, the aim is for people to interact with each other and generate new ideas, further enriching society and people's lives.
The site covers approximately 90,000 square meters and is divided into three areas: Umekita Park, the North Block, and the South Block. Each area has its own unique charm and characteristics; let's take a closer look!
Umekita Park

An urban oasis in the center of Osaka, this huge park takes up half of the area of the entire complex. The park is divided into north and south halves, connected by the "Path of Inspiration." It features a spacious grassy plaza, the museum VS. designed and supervised by Tadao Ando Architect & Associates, the covered event space Roth Heart Square Umekita where a variety of events are held, and a wide range of dining facilities. Whether you want to enjoy a coffee, attend an event, see an exhibition, or just take a walk or picnic, this is the perfect place to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and all the benefits that only an urban park can offer.
Lawn Plaza

When you visit GRAND GREEN OSAKA, the first thing that'll jump into view is its vast lawn plaza! A multipurpose plaza with a water pool, the space also hosts occasional seasonal events to let you experience something a little out of the ordinary.
This large grassy plaza is the perfect spot for enjoying nature in Umeda, even in the city center, whether it's with a picnic with your family or friends on the grass, or letting your kids run free on the spacious natural lawn. Umekita Park is also home to some 110 cherry trees that turn the park pink in the springtime, so it's a great places for cherry blossom viewing or taking some photos.

The park also offers free rentals of play equipment like picnic mats, folding chairs, bowling sets, kendama (a traditional Japanese toy) and more at the Rental Goods Cart. Rentals are available from 10:00-17:00.
*Please note that rental services may be temporarily suspended depending on the weather and how many people are using park services.
*Please be sure to return equipment to its original location after use and refrain from taking it outside the park.
boo boo boo

Located within Umekita Park, boo boo boo is an urban picnic-themed restaurant. Incorporating the best of its sister restaurant, booworld, it offers carefully-selected coffee, handmade rice balls, natural wine, and other delicious food options. They offer a variety of flavors, from the classic to Hawaiian-style with Spam.
